fear is the mind killer
overcome fear, and you conquer the world
how often have you heard that said?
too many, I bet.
but truly, is there anything to it? if we overcome our internal fears and aversions, what will be the end result? a more satisfied, robust, expressive, creative human being? Really??
let me make the case:
1) in fear, we withdraw and don’t try new things. Hence we stop learning and growing in our mind. Ideas become stagnant, recycled, we become “locked in” to a fear mindset. The world becomes scary!
2) in fear, we stop connecting with others. Other People are best source of joy there is! Getting their input, sharing some of your own story … social cohesion has many benefits.
3) in fear, we lose the connection to Source
4) in fear, we start doubting our own abilities to cope with the world. We reduce our own stature in comparison to others, and in doing so, hand them our power. Bad!!
5) in fear, we doubt the inherent goodness of others. One paints them as this or that, and we stop seeing Reality for what it is. It becomes a clouded vision..
6) in fear, we cannot Love fully.
7) in fear, we live in a little box of a world, not seeing its wonders, joys, explosive beauty. A narrow, constricted, defensive mindset. Fear is a COMPRESSION.
so all up, fear is not a good thing!

Fear is the biggest thing in Life – But we mustn’t let it control us. We must be the masters of the ship at all times.
Exercise to help with fear: If you are worried about something and are fearful about it. Simply imagine doing that thing, but thinking about what could be the worst scenario that can happen – really let your imagination fly. Then give the thing your frightened of a go for real. What you’ll soon find out is that are imaginations often conger up far worse than what is actually likely to happen in reality. Thus, we learn that our minds often go into flight or fight unnecessarily – and we get less afraid.

Great blog, and very true. I battle fear of success regularly. finding those barriers that limit ones spirit is not an easy, must important event for one to explore ones potential.
A book called the Creative habit by Twyla Tarp was a key inspiration for me to get in touch with some of my limiting barriers.
Thanks for sharing this insite.

I came here because I saw your About Page link and was curious and ended up reading this.
Very true but I have to add that mixing a little caution into the mix might be a good idea too. True that fear causes us to doubt the inherent goodness of others. We should still see that goodness in the face of the sometimes ill intentions of the ego.
……maybe the word I’m looking for is Awareness? 🙂

Fear can also save our lives. The trick is to look what is underneath the fear – the thoughts and emotions that are prompting the fear response and to look for the truth and lies.
